Each local watershed group is an independent manifestation of each community's interest, energy, activism, and character. Citizen groups are able to participate directly in decision making and problem solving, as well as initiating local cleanup, conservation, and data gathering/ecosystem research project. These local Montana Watershed Groups truly are ... volunteers making a difference.

Inclusion in the list of watershed groups does not indicate MWCC endorsement of specific groups. The groups listed on the MWCC web site are considered watershed groups, sharing several key components such as: inclusive participation, membership, and decision-making; and working within a local watershed context to address tangible natural resource issues or interests. Natural resource partners with similar local goals include conservation districts, nonprofit organizations, water quality districts, and research/academic entities.
