The Montana Watershed Coordination Council (MWCC) serves as a statewide coordination network for Montana's natural resource agencies and private organizations and a forum for local watershed groups to help enhance, conserve, and protect natural resources and sustain the high quality of life in Montana for present and future generations. MWCC encourages local people to take a proactive, collaborative approach that will address natural resource issues and concerns.

Inclusion in this list of watershed groups does not indicate MWCC endorsement of specific groups. The groups listed on the MWCC web site are considered watershed groups, sharing several key components such as: inclusive participation, membership, and decision-making; and working within a local watershed context to address tangible natural resource issues or interests. Natural resource partners with similar local goals include conservation districts, nonprofit organizations, water quality districts, and research/academic entities.
